Holiday trading hours for futures trading can be a little confusing.  Typically, the session starts at the same time (5 pm CST the previous day), halts on the holiday and then resumes trading that evening.  All working orders will continue through the halt and have a trade date of the following day.

For example: Thanksgiving is on a Thursday.

Orders entered at 5 pm CT Wednesday afternoon will begin working with a trade date of Friday.  They will continue working until Thursday at 12 pm CT (or whenever the exchange stops for the session).  The session will then halt until Thursday at 5 pm.  At 5 pm CT, the session will resume and all working orders that were entered from 5 pm CT Wednesday will continue working.  This session will continue until 12 pm CT on Friday (or whenever the exchange stops for the session).  At that time, the session will close for the weekend and all unfilled, day orders will expire.

Any orders that fill will have a trade date of Friday.
